Tosin Eniolorunda, a Nigerian software engineer and entrepreneur, is the co-founder and Group CEO of Moniepoint Inc., Africa’s fastest-growing fintech company for three consecutive years as of 2025. Known for building digital financial services that empower businesses and promote inclusion, Eniolorunda has led Moniepoint to unicorn status and significant funding milestones.

Early Life and Education

Born Oluwatosin Michael Eniolorunda in September 1985 in Lagos, Nigeria, he grew up in Ibadan as the first of three children. Eniolorunda was admitted to Obafemi Awolowo University in 2002 and graduated with a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering in 2007.

Career

Eniolorunda began his career as a software engineer at Interswitch in 2009, where he served as Senior Software Engineer and developed the first point-of-sale software powering the majority of POS terminals in Nigeria. He left Interswitch in 2015 to co-found TeamApt (now Moniepoint Inc.) with Felix Ike. Initially focused on backend software for financial institutions, the company rebranded to Moniepoint in 2022 and evolved into a customer-centric platform providing payments, banking, credit, and business management tools.

As CEO since 2015, Eniolorunda has overseen product development, including mobile banking apps for instant account creation and integrated financial tools for SMEs. His leadership emphasizes “financial happiness,” democratizing financial services through accessible technology.

Achievements

Under Eniolorunda’s leadersh, Moniepoint secured $110 million in Series B funding in October 2022, led by Index Ventures. It achieved unicorn status in 2023 with a $1 billion valuation after a $50 million raise. In October 2024, the company raised over $200 million in Series C funding, led by Development Partners International. Moniepoint expanded to the United Kingdom in 2023.

Moniepoint’s 2025 Year in Review confirms processing over ₦412 trillion in transactions across more than 14 billion transactions via its microfinance bank (MFB), disbursing over ₦1 trillion in credit to SMEs with recipients averaging over 36% business growth, TeamApt securing Mastercard and Visa processor/acquirer licenses, and Monnify handling ₦25 trillion in web payments.

Eniolorunda’s strategies have focused on underserved SMEs through a nationwide agent network, fostering financial inclusion. Partnerships include the Federal Government’s Rice Intervention Programme, reaching nearly 850,000 beneficiaries, and Kaduna State for grants to vulnerable citizens. The company launched MonieWorld in the UK for diaspora remittances and acquired a national Microfinance Bank license.

Reflecting on the journey, Eniolorunda said: “Our journey has been one of intentional evolution… our mission to create financial happiness is an operational mandate… We are just getting started.”
