The US Pentagon has launched a new website where people can view declassified files on unidentified anomalous phenomena, also known as UFOs or UAP. The first set of around 162 files went live on May 8, 2026, following a directive from President Donald Trump for greater transparency on these long-held government records.

The files include videos, photos, eyewitness reports, and historical documents from agencies such as the Department of Defense, FBI, NASA, and State Department. Many of the materials date back decades, with some from the 1940s. They cover reported sightings of strange objects, including orbs, saucers, and other unexplained phenomena.

The new site, hosted at war.gov/ufo, features a simple design with black-and-white images and typewriter-style text. Visitors can browse the documents freely without needing security clearance. The Pentagon says more files will be added in batches every few weeks as they are reviewed and declassified.

Officials have not provided detailed analysis of the new materials. They encourage the public to examine the files and reach their own conclusions. The release forms part of a wider interagency effort called PURSUE, aimed at making historical UAP records available.

This move builds on earlier work by the Pentagon’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), which has studied UAP reports for years. President Trump directed agencies earlier this year to identify and release relevant government files on UFOs and possible extraterrestrial matters.

The first collection of files is now available on the dedicated website. Additional releases are expected in the coming weeks as the Pentagon continues its review of decades-old records.
