Highlights
  • Juxta is redefining global tracking with a powerful, hardware-free system that works anywhere, indoors, outdoors, or underground, offering unmatched accuracy, offline capability, and universal coverage.

Juxta has announced the launch of its Universal Positioning System (UPS), a revolutionary way to track people, vehicles, and assets globally without relying on external hardware like satellites, beacons, or chips.

Unlike traditional tracking technologies that require costly installations or rely on weak or jammed signals, Juxta’s system is entirely on-device, offering instant, accurate positioning indoors, outdoors, and even underground, with zero infrastructure needed.

“We’re building Juxta — a new way to track people and things anywhere in the world with zero external hardware,” the company shared in its announcement. “It’s super cheap, works offline, is unjammable, and has truly universal coverage.”

The Problem with Existing Systems

Current GPS-based solutions don’t function well in places where they’re needed most. Over 90% of human activity happens indoors, yet GPS is notoriously ineffective inside buildings. Beacon systems, such as BLE or UWB, offer indoor alternatives; however, installations can cost up to $250,000 per site.

Even outdoors, GPS can fail in dense cities, forests, war zones, or remote areas, anywhere signals are blocked or jammed. These limitations make modern tracking systems costly, fragile, and unsuitable for large-scale or critical deployments.

What Makes Juxta Different?

Juxta’s Universal Positioning System (UPS) is a first-of-its-kind, hardware-free solution that can be deployed remotely, even across continents, and runs fully on end-user devices.

Key features include:

  • Zero hardware — No satellites, beacons, or physical infrastructure needed
  • Works anywhere — Indoors, outdoors, underground, and remote locations
  • Offline capable & unjammable — Operates without any active signal
  • Universal tracking — Works with phones, robots, vehicles, and anything with an IMU (inertial measurement unit)
  • End-to-end encrypted — Secure by design

According to Juxta, UPS delivers GPS-level (or better) accuracy, covering 10 times more of the world and costing just a fraction of traditional systems.

How It Works

The process is simple:

  1. Upload a map or floor plan to Juxta’s web portal.
  2. The system automatically generates a 3D environment and simulates millions of movement paths.
  3. AI trains on this synthetic data to reduce drift and improve accuracy.
  4. Positioning models are deployed directly to user devices — no setup or hardware required.

Already in Use Across Sectors

Juxta’s system is already gaining traction across industries:

  • Defense: Track personnel and assets in the field — no signals required, nothing to jam.
  • Robotics: Partnered with RC Mowers to enable non-visual, offline positioning.
  • Warehousing/Logistics: Deployed in ports and facilities without beacon infrastructure.
  • Healthcare: Signed letters of intent with hospitals to track patients via existing monitors.

A Y Combinator Launch

Juxta is part of the latest Y Combinator batch, with its official launch listed on the startup accelerator’s platform. The startup is inviting early adopters to experience what it calls “hardware-free, remotely deployable tracking for the real world.”

As businesses and governments continue searching for secure, cost-effective ways to track people and assets, Juxta may be delivering the future of global positioning, no satellites required.
