PayTabs Group, the Middle East’s prominent payment orchestration platform, has acquired TAPn’GO, a contactless payment solution focused on the hospitality and dining sector, as part of its strategy to expand its super app capabilities and deepen its presence in everyday merchant payments.

The acquisition, announced recently, integrates TAPn’GO’s scan-to-pay and tap-to-pay technology directly into PayTabs’ broader ecosystem. TAPn’GO allows restaurant and café customers to view digital menus, split bills, add tips, and complete payments seamlessly via QR code or NFC tap using Apple Pay, Google Pay, or cards without waiting for a physical bill or server intervention.

This move enhances PayTabs’ offerings in the quick-service and full-service dining space, where faster table turnover, higher tip collection, and improved customer satisfaction are key priorities. By bringing TAPn’GO in-house, PayTabs can now offer merchants a more comprehensive suite of tools that combine payment processing, ordering, and customer engagement features in one platform.

PayTabs has been aggressively building toward a super app vision, aiming to provide merchants with an all-in-one solution that goes beyond basic gateway services. The addition of TAPn’GO strengthens its contactless and hospitality-focused capabilities, particularly in key markets such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, where the solution is already integrated with popular POS systems.

In 2024, PayTabs processed $18 billion in transaction volume, demonstrating strong scale across the region. The acquisition of TAPn’GO is expected to accelerate growth in the food and beverage vertical by making contactless payments more intuitive and embedded in the dining experience.

For merchants, the combined solution promises operational efficiency, quicker bill settlement, reduced queues, and better data insights on customer behaviour. For diners, it delivers a frictionless experience that aligns with the growing preference for contactless and mobile-first payments.

The deal reflects a broader trend in the MENA fintech space, where payment companies are consolidating specialised tools to create more complete ecosystems rather than operating as pure gateways. Contactless and QR-based solutions have gained significant traction post-pandemic, especially in hospitality, where speed and convenience directly impact revenue.

While financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, the integration is already underway, with PayTabs positioning TAPn’GO as a core component of its merchant solutions portfolio.

This strategic move strengthens PayTabs’ competitive edge in a crowded regional payments market and brings it closer to its goal of becoming a full-fledged super app for businesses. As digital payments continue to replace cash across the Middle East, solutions that simplify both the merchant and customer sides of the transaction are increasingly valuable.

With TAPn’GO now under its wing, PayTabs is better equipped to support restaurants, cafés, and other hospitality businesses looking to modernise their payment flows and enhance the overall dining experience. The acquisition signals continued momentum for the Saudi-based fintech as it expands its product depth and regional influence.
