Xiaomi Corporation proudly announces the launch of its highly anticipated Xiaomi 17 flagship smartphone series, debuting at an event in China on September 25, 2025, with sales commencing on September 27. The new lineup marks a significant milestone as the first devices to feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, setting a new standard for mobile performance and innovation.
The Xiaomi 17 series comprises three models: the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. The standard Xiaomi 17 is billed as the company’s “most powerful standard flagship” to date, featuring a refined 6.3-inch display with ultra-elliptical corners and an ultra-narrow bezel. The Pro models raise the bar further, offering a unique dual-screen design with a secondary 2.66-inch OLED display on the rear for enhanced functionality such as notifications, selfie framing using the rear camera, music control, and more.
Battery capacity across the series is industry-leading, with the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max boasting a massive 7,500mAh battery and support for fast wired and wireless charging. Each model is equipped with Leica-tuned triple 50MP camera systems, underscoring Xiaomi’s commitment to premium imaging technology. All phones run on the newly developed HyperOS 3, based on Android 16, delivering a smooth and feature-rich user experience.
The Xiaomi 17 Pro Max’s design, inspired by the Mi 11 Ultra of 2021, stands apart with its innovative secondary screen, distinctly differing from competitors such as the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max. Xiaomi President Lu Weibing highlighted this to emphasize Xiaomi’s unique design philosophy.
Beyond hardware, the release underscores Xiaomi’s collaboration with Qualcomm, debuting the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5—an SoC engineered with a 3nm process and Qualcomm’s third-generation Oryon CPU. This chipset delivers an unprecedented combination of speed, AI improvements, gaming enhancements, and power efficiency, further solidifying Xiaomi’s leadership in the premium smartphone space.
While the initial launch is focused on the Chinese market, Xiaomi plans to expand the availability of the Xiaomi 17 series to other regions, including India, where interest remains high.
The Xiaomi 17 series represents not just a new generation of smartphones but a leap forward in the integration of cutting-edge processor technology and innovative design, positioning Xiaomi at the forefront of the 2025 flagship smartphone race.
