WeRide, a global leader in autonomous driving technology, is proud to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Uber. The collaboration will bring Robotaxi pilot operations to Dubai via the Uber app, marking a major step toward the city’s ambitious smart mobility goals.
Set to begin later this year, the pilot phase will feature autonomous vehicles with safety operators on board, laying the groundwork for fully driverless commercial rides by 2026. This milestone supports Dubai’s strategic vision to make 25% of all transport trips autonomous by 2030.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA.
“We are accelerating our international expansion, with the Middle East as a strategic priority,” said Jennifer Li, CFO and Head of International at WeRide. “Earlier this month, we expanded our partnership with Uber to roll out Robotaxis in 15 additional cities over the next five years. With this MoU, we are proud to formalize our collaboration with Uber and the RTA to bring autonomous vehicles to Dubai. We are fully aligned with the Dubai government’s ambitious vision and are excited to support this goal with our advanced technology and global experience.”
This partnership reinforces Dubai’s status as a global hub for innovation in smart mobility and highlights WeRide’s commitment to transforming urban transportation through cutting-edge autonomous solutions.
