MTN Uganda has officially opened a new service centre in Bwaise, expanding its physical footprint in Kampala’s Kawempe Division. The ribbon-cutting took place on 10 August 2026, with the operator positioning the outlet as a one-stop location for core customer needs.
Joseph Bogera, General Manager for Sales and Distribution, welcomed customers at the launch. Services available at the centre include SIM registration and swaps, MTN Mobile Money (MoMo), data services, eSIM activation, device sales and general support. The company framed the opening as a response to local demand for more convenient access.
Kawempe Division Mayor Dr. Emma Serunjoji attended and described the facility as the first dedicated MTN service centre in the division. He publicly thanked the operator for the investment and noted he remains a long-time MTN customer.
Bwaise is a dense, commercially active area on the northern side of Kampala. Opening a full-service centre there continues a pattern of MTN Uganda placing retail points in high-traffic suburban and peri-urban locations to reduce the need for customers to travel into the city centre. Similar recent openings have included sites in Namugongo, Nansana and Luwero.
Physical service centres remain relevant even as digital self-service channels grow. Many customers still prefer in-person help for SIM-related processes, Mobile Money issues, device purchases and account support. For the operator, these outlets also serve as visible brand presence and points for agent and retail network coordination.
The Bwaise centre does not alter MTN Uganda’s overall network strategy, but it does incrementally improve accessibility in a busy part of the capital. Its success will be measured by how effectively it reduces wait times, handles high volumes of everyday transactions and integrates with the wider agent and digital service ecosystem.
