Emirates NBD has become the first bank in the Middle East, North Africa and Türkiye (MENAT) region to enable live real-time cross-border US dollar payments using blockchain technology on the Partior network.

The service allows corporate and institutional clients to send and settle eligible USD payments in real time to accounts at J.P. Morgan, which served as both settlement and beneficiary bank in the initial live transaction.

The launch operationalises a partnership first announced in 2024, marking the opening corridor in a broader plan to expand currencies, routes, and participating banks. Partior’s multi-currency ledger enables continuous clearing and settlement rather than batch processing.

Anith Daniel, Group Head of Transaction Banking Services at Emirates NBD, highlighted the move as redefining cross-border payments by delivering speed, transparency, and efficiency.

This development strengthens Emirates NBD’s position in digital banking and cross-border services. The bank continues to invest in blockchain and distributed ledger technologies to enhance its offerings.

The Partior network, backed by major financial institutions, aims to transform global payments infrastructure. Emirates NBD’s participation positions it as a pioneer in the MENAT region for blockchain-based settlement.
