Ericsson South Africa has unveiled a new Telecommunication Network Operations Learnership Programme aimed at equipping young South Africans with practical skills in the telecommunications industry. The 12-month initiative targets unemployed youth, particularly those with technical backgrounds, to address the growing demand for skilled professionals in network operations, infrastructure, and digital connectivity.
The programme, accredited under SAQA ID 59057 at NQF Level 4, combines classroom learning with hands-on workplace experience. Participants will gain exposure to key areas such as tower operations, fibre installations, network maintenance, safety protocols, and field-based technical support. Training will primarily take place in East London, Eastern Cape, with potential travel to other sites in the province after the initial months.
Successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend, mentorship from industry professionals, and the opportunity to earn a nationally recognised qualification. The learnership is designed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world application, helping participants build viable careers in one of South Africa’s critical growth sectors.
