Behind every great innovation lies a seed of inspiration. For the Akalazu brothers, David and Tobechukwu, that seed was planted by their late father, a teacher who believed deeply in the power of education. His values of discipline, hard work, and knowledge did not just shape their lives; they laid the foundation for what would become Gagner, an African company with a mission to build intelligent solutions for real problems.
In 2016, Akalazu David discovered his passion for technology at the age of 13. Driven by curiosity and the joy of “creating things people would use,” this passion eventually led him to study Software Engineering at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, where he graduated with First-Class Honours.
During his second year, he conceived the name Gagner, not just as a brand, but as a vision: a movement that would harness technology to solve challenges across Africa. Gagner began as a student-led initiative and later became a movement. With a small team, David built a system to help younger students in the department gain access to the right tools, resources, and courses they needed to excel, not just as software engineering students, but as future software engineers.
While David sparked the vision, it was his elder brother, Akalazu Praise, who transformed it into a business. Together, they forged a partnership rooted not just in brotherhood but in a shared sense of purpose. Praise steered Gagner from a campus project into a structured, impact-driven startup, positioning it to address Africa’s most pressing challenges using Artificial Intelligence.
Their first official product is more than just an innovation; it is a tribute. In honour of their late father, the teacher whose values shaped them, Gagner is launching Gagner for Schools: Africa’s First AI-Powered School Management System. This groundbreaking platform is designed to transform how schools in Nigeria and across Africa operate.
Gagner for Schools empowers schools to run smarter, faster, more efficiently, and more effectively. For the Akalazu brothers, Gagner for Schools is both a technological breakthrough and a living memorial to their father’s belief in the power of education.
The story of Gagner teaches valuable lessons:
Passion is the seed, but discipline is the soil that makes it grow.
Ideas, when nurtured, can evolve into innovations that transform industries.
Legacies don’t die; they live on through purposeful action.
Technology built with people at its core creates lasting impact.
If you’re a school seeking a modern, affordable, and intelligent management system, a business ready to embrace AI-driven solutions, or an innovator or partner who believes in the power of African innovation, then Gagner is ready to work with you.
Join the Movement. Build the Future. Gagner is more than a company; it’s a vision for an Africa empowered by innovation, intelligence, and impact.
