ESGAE (École Supérieure de Gestion et d’Administration des Entreprises) and Congo Telecom have initiated discussions for a strategic partnership focused on advancing digital education and aligning higher education with the evolving needs of Congo’s digital economy.

The collaboration aims to address critical gaps in digital skills, connectivity, and practical training for students preparing to enter the technology and telecommunications sectors. Congo Telecom, the country’s incumbent fixed-line and broadband operator, brings deep infrastructure expertise, while ESGAE, a leading private business school founded in 1993, contributes strong academic programmes in management, administration, and emerging technologies.

Under the proposed partnership, the two institutions plan to develop joint initiatives including specialised training modules, internship programmes, curriculum co-development in areas such as digital transformation, cybersecurity, data management, and telecommunications management. The goal is to create a stronger pipeline of industry-ready graduates equipped to support Congo’s digitalisation agenda.

Congo, like many African markets, faces a mismatch between academic offerings and market requirements in the digital space. Rapid growth in mobile data, broadband expansion, and government digital transformation initiatives has increased demand for professionals skilled in both technical and managerial aspects of ICT.

The partnership seeks to combine theoretical education with hands-on exposure to real-world telecom infrastructure and digital service delivery. This includes potential access to Congo Telecom’s facilities for practical learning, guest lectures from industry experts, and collaborative research on topics relevant to national connectivity goals.

Representatives from both organisations described the move as a “structuring partnership” that will help close the gap between classroom learning and professional market expectations.

This collaboration fits into Congo’s broader ambitions to accelerate digital inclusion and build a knowledge-based economy. With improving broadband infrastructure and growing interest in digital services, developing local talent is seen as essential for reducing reliance on foreign expertise and creating sustainable employment opportunities for youth.

For ESGAE, the partnership enhances its reputation as a forward-looking institution responsive to industry trends. For Congo Telecom, it supports corporate social responsibility objectives while building a stronger talent pool for future recruitment and sector growth.

The two parties are currently finalising the framework agreement, with expectations that concrete programmes could launch in the coming academic year. If successful, the initiative could serve as a model for other public-private education partnerships across Central Africa.
