Ghana\u2019s telecom landscape is entering a new chapter. Telecel Group and Huawei Technologies have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to embark on a network modernisation and digital-infrastructure campaign worth approximately US$70 million, set to begin in November 2025 across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the agreement, the two companies will roll out the Telecel Ghana Rollout Project, a multi-phase initiative that aims to upgrade network performance, expand next-generation services and deliver faster, more reliable connectivity to both consumers and enterprise users in key regions of Ghana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Telecel\u2019s deal with Huawei arrives at a time when Ghana\u2019s digital-economy ambitions demand stronger infrastructure. The group\u2019s recent transformation, including the takeover of majority control of Vodafone Ghana and the rapid 4G rollout of 300 new sites, underscores its intention to disrupt and elevate connectivity across the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Telecel Group\u2019s Chief Operating Officer, Malek Atrissi, described the MoU as \u201ca significant step forward in our long-standing collaboration with Huawei\u201d and emphasised that the new investment aligns with the company\u2019s mission to deploy innovative digital infrastructure and services in Ghana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, Patricia Obo\u2011Nai, CEO of Telecel Ghana, praised Huawei\u2019s technology leadership and said the partnership marks an important milestone in the company\u2019s journey to enhance capacity, reliability, and innovation in Ghana\u2019s telecoms ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Starting in November 2025, the project will implement phased upgrades across Ghana; a strategy designed to modernise existing assets, densify coverage, and introduce advanced services. Reports indicate that the MoU outlines cooperation in areas such as network architecture, deployment of new equipment, and optimisation of digital services for both mobile and enterprise segments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
