Vonage, Ericsson\u2019s<\/a> cloud communications arm, has brought in Christophe Van de Weyer as President and Head of its API Business Unit. The move, effective April 2025, signals a sharper focus on scaling the company\u2019s Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS) and network-powered solutions amid growing enterprise demand for programmable networks and AI-driven tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Van de Weyer reports to Niklas Heuveldop, who serves as both Vonage CEO and Head of Ericsson\u2019s Business Area Global Communications Platform. He succeeds Seckin Arikan, who moved into the chief operating officer role at Vonage. The appointment draws on Van de Weyer\u2019s deep telecom and transformation background to accelerate profitable growth in a competitive CPaaS market where network APIs are increasingly central to enterprise digital strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ericsson acquired Vonage in 2022 to bolster its enterprise ambitions and help operators monetize 5G and future network capabilities through APIs. The Global Communications Platform business combines Vonage\u2019s cloud tools spanning CPaaS, UCaaS, and CCaaS with Ericsson\u2019s infrastructure strengths. Van de Weyer\u2019s mandate centers on leveraging high-performance, programmable networks to create AI-led solutions that deliver real business value, from enhanced customer experiences to operational efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His track record aligns closely with this mission. Most recently, he served as CEO of Telesign, a Proximus Group subsidiary specializing in digital identity and omnichannel communications. At Proximus, he held senior roles including COO of the B2B division and leadership of ICT subsidiaries focused on cloud, security, and smart networking. Earlier, as a partner at Bain & Company, he advised telecom and tech clients on strategy, transformation, and commercial excellence across EMEA and the US.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heuveldop welcomed the hire, noting Van de Weyer\u2019s experience driving operational excellence, strategic partnerships, and innovation. \u201cHis broad experience across Bain, Proximus and Telesign will be instrumental in mobilizing our capabilities across Ericsson, our joint venture Aduna, and Vonage,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This leadership addition comes as Ericsson continues integrating Vonage and pushing network APIs as a growth vector. Partnerships like the one with LotusFlare aim to speed API exposure and monetization for communications service providers. Vonage\u2019s platform, enhanced by Ericsson\u2019s network assets, targets developers and enterprises building solutions that turn connectivity into competitive advantage whether for fraud prevention, personalized engagement, or automated workflows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
