He noted that affordable money transfer services remain critical for African businesses and families that rely on cross-border payments.

TEMPO, a European payment institution and one of Stellar’s key payment partners in the European Union, said the partnership would allow customers across Europe to send funds to African recipients more quickly and at lower costs. The company added that the service would support direct transfers into local bank accounts across participating African markets.Industry analysts view the partnership as part of a broader trend among fintech companies seeking to use blockchain technology to improve international payments and remittance services. Traditional cross-border transfers often involve multiple intermediaries, resulting in higher fees and longer settlement times. The collaboration also aligns with Stellar Development Foundation’s efforts to build a more accessible global financial system through blockchain-powered payment infrastructure.

Flutterwave said it plans to expand its Stellar-based payment capabilities to additional African countries as it increases the number of supported currencies on its platform.Founded in 2016, Flutterwave has grown into one of Africa’s leading fintech companies, providing payment solutions for businesses across more than 30 African countries. TEMPO specializes in international money transfers and cross-border settlement services, with a focus on leveraging digital payment technologies to improve transaction efficiency.

African fintech giant Flutterwave has partnered with European payment institution TEMPO Payments to launch new remittance corridors between Europe and Africa using the Stellar blockchain network, a move aimed at reducing the cost and complexity of cross-border money transfers.
