Airtel Uganda delivered strong performance in the financial year ended December 2025, posting double-digit revenue growth and underscoring its position as one of the fastest-growing telecom operators in the country.

The company reported revenue of UGX 1.85 trillion (approximately $500 million), representing a 14.2% increase compared to the previous year. This growth was driven by robust performance across mobile data, mobile money (Airtel Money), and voice services, even as the Ugandan market remains highly competitive.

Data revenue emerged as the biggest growth driver, rising more than 25% year-on-year, supported by increased smartphone penetration, expanded 4G coverage, and strong demand for affordable data bundles. Airtel Money also continued its upward trajectory, contributing significantly to overall revenue with higher transaction volumes and expanded merchant payments.

Speaking on the results, Airtel Uganda Managing Director, Manoj Murali, highlighted the companyโ€™s continued focus on innovation and customer-centric solutions. โ€œOur double-digit growth reflects the success of our strategy to deliver relevant, affordable, and high-quality services that meet the evolving needs of Ugandans,โ€ he said.

The operator has been investing heavily in network modernisation and digital services. In 2025, Airtel Uganda expanded its 4G footprint and began early preparations for future 5G deployment. The company also introduced several new digital products, including enhanced Airtel Money features for SMEs, educational content bundles, and improved customer self-service platforms.

Despite macroeconomic challenges such as inflation and currency fluctuations, Airtel Uganda maintained healthy margins and operational efficiency. The companyโ€™s customer base grew steadily, crossing the 12 million mark during the year.

Airtel Ugandaโ€™s performance stands in contrast to some regional peers facing slower growth or profitability pressures. The results reinforce the operatorโ€™s strategy of balancing aggressive network investment with monetisation of data and digital financial services.

Looking ahead, the company reaffirmed its commitment to innovation and long-term growth. Murali stated that Airtel Uganda will continue investing in superior network quality, expanding digital offerings, and exploring new partnerships to drive financial inclusion and digital transformation across Uganda.

The strong FY 2025 results come at a time when Ugandaโ€™s telecom sector is experiencing increased competition, particularly in mobile money and data services. Airtelโ€™s ability to deliver consistent double-digit growth demonstrates its resilience and adaptability in a dynamic market.

As Uganda pushes toward greater digital inclusion, Airtel Ugandaโ€™s performance signals that focused investment in infrastructure and customer-relevant innovation continues to deliver tangible results. The company is expected to release more detailed segment-wise numbers in its full annual report in the coming weeks.
