Jordan Ahli Bank has launched a “Rent Now, Pay Later” facility, described as the first of its kind offered by a bank in Jordan. The service allows eligible retail customers to finance residential rent and repay it in instalments through the Ahli Mobile app.

Under the product, the bank pays the rent amount directly to the landlord. Customers can finance up to 18,000 Jordanian dinars, with repayment periods of up to 12 months. The offering is available to Jordanian individual customers who meet the bank’s eligibility and credit criteria and complete the required documentation. Final approval is subject to the bank’s internal assessment policies.

The bank positions the service as a response to changing household cash-flow needs, giving renters more flexibility in managing one of their largest recurring expenses. By routing the full payment to the landlord immediately while spreading the customer’s obligation over time, the product aims to ease liquidity pressure without disrupting the rental relationship.

Buy-now-pay-later style products have gained traction across retail and consumer finance in the region. Extending a similar structure specifically to residential rent is less common and reflects an attempt by a traditional bank to address a high-value, recurring cost through its digital channels. The integration into Ahli Mobile keeps the process within the bank’s existing app rather than requiring a separate platform.

Jordan’s banking sector continues to expand digital offerings while remaining subject to conservative credit standards. The success of this product will depend on uptake among eligible customers, the quality of underwriting, and whether landlords accept the direct-payment model without friction. For Ahli Bank, it adds another specialised financing option to its retail suite and tests demand for instalment-based solutions beyond traditional consumer purchases.
