Once the buyer verifies receipt of the correct item, funds are released to the seller. The entire process runs through a chat interface no additional app download required. Users simply message the SentiBud WhatsApp number to set up terms, fund the escrow and track the deal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company also built in seller-side protections. If a buyer becomes unreachable after dispatch, SentiBud automatically releases the delivery fee from the escrowed amount to cover logistics costs. Disputes can be flagged directly in the chat thread; funds stay locked while Sentinel Escrow reviews the case and mediates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe fundamental issue in social commerce has never been a lack of buyers or sellers; it\u2019s trust,\u201d said Mmaju Anselm, founder of Sentinel Escrow. He noted that many potential deals die when one party is asked to download another app mid-conversation. \u201cSo instead of asking people to leave WhatsApp\u2026 we brought escrow to WhatsApp.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nigeria\u2019s informal online trade thrives on messaging platforms, yet payment-on-delivery and advance-payment scams remain common. Buyers hesitate to pay first; sellers fear shipping without guaranteed funds. Traditional escrow services exist but often require separate apps or websites that interrupt the natural flow of a WhatsApp negotiation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By embedding the service where conversations already happen, SentiBud lowers the activation barrier. The company positions it for physical goods, gadgets, fashion, pre-orders and even freelance services between parties who have not yet established trust. An optional mobile app remains available for users who prefer it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The launch continues a broader trend of African fintechs meeting users inside the channels they already use daily. Whether SentiBud can scale dispute resolution, maintain regulatory compliance on the held funds, and build enough liquidity of trusted users will determine how far it moves the needle on social-commerce confidence.
