MTN Group has launched MTN One TV, a new streaming platform aimed at expanding access to digital entertainment across Africa, as the telecommunications giant deepens its push beyond connectivity into content and digital services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The platform, unveiled on June 8, is designed to offer a mix of live television, video-on-demand content, local productions, and international programming tailored to the preferences of audiences across MTN’s markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
MTN said One TV forms part of its Ambition 2030 strategy and seeks to address some of the barriers that have limited streaming adoption across the continent, including affordability, payment accessibility, and content relevance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The service will offer multiple viewing options, including free-to-view content, advertising-supported streaming, pay-as-you-watch access, and subscription packages. Depending on the market, customers will also be able to pay through airtime, Mobile Money, and other locally available payment channels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Entertainment is becoming an increasingly important gateway to digital participation,” said Selorm Adadevoh, MTN Group’s Chief Commercial Officer. He said the company is leveraging its connectivity, fintech, and digital capabilities to make entertainment more accessible while supporting Africa’s growing creative economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Unlike many global streaming platforms that operate with a largely uniform model, MTN said One TV will be localized for individual markets, offering content and viewing experiences aligned with local cultures, languages, and consumer preferences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The company also said the platform is expected to create opportunities for content creators, broadcasters, advertisers, and distribution partners by connecting them with audiences across MTN’s extensive footprint on the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The launch marks MTN’s latest effort to diversify revenue streams beyond traditional voice and data services as telecom operators increasingly seek growth in digital services, fintech, entertainment, and enterprise solutions.Industry analysts view the move as a significant step in MTN’s broader digital transformation strategy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
With operations spanning multiple African countries and a subscriber base exceeding 300 million, the company is positioning itself to compete in the continent’s rapidly evolving streaming market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The launch comes amid growing demand for locally relevant digital content and increasing competition among streaming providers seeking to capture Africa’s expanding internet population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
By combining content distribution with mobile connectivity and digital payment infrastructure, MTN is betting that a locally tailored approach can help accelerate the adoption of streaming services across the continent while creating new opportunities for Africa’s creative industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
