The group added 26 million new customers, bringing its total base to 237 million people across the continent. Financial services customers grew by 15 million, reaching 103 million users.

Egypt was the clear star, with revenue growing by more than 40% and net profit up nearly 50% in rand terms. International markets posted 13% revenue growth and 27% EBITDA growth.

Fintech revenue across the group, including Safaricom, hit roughly R41 billion for the year.

Vodafone’s operating profit swung to €2.8 billion, compared to a loss of €400 million in the previous year. The turnaround reflects improved earnings and the absence of large one-off charges that had dragged on the prior-year result, though higher depreciation from the Three UK merger played some role.

Adjusted EBITDAaL a key industry profit measure rose 3.8% to €11.4 billion, or 4.5% on an organic basis.

Not everything went smoothly. Germany, Vodafone’s largest market, saw organic service revenue slip 0.2% for the full year, though it showed signs of recovery by the fourth quarter, returning to 1.3% growth.

In the UK, organic service revenue grew 0.3%, with consumer and wholesale gains partly offset by a decline in the business segment following planned contract endings. The wider Business division grew 3.2% organically, with digital services recording double-digit expansion.

Vodafone has been in the middle of a significant turnaround under CEO Margherita Della Valle, focused on selling off underperforming assets, buying back shares, and cutting costs. The company completed a merger between Vodafone UK and Three UK in mid-2025, creating a combined entity called VodafoneThree.

Vodafone shares had hit a multi-decade low in early 2025 before surging roughly 68% over the past year, valuing the group at around £27.33 billion.

Vodacom plans to invest around R27.5 billion in the year ahead, including about R12 billion in South Africa. Management indicated that its Ethiopia operations are expected to break even at the earnings level this year.

Global telecom giant Vodafone has posted its strongest results in years, reporting total revenue of €40.5 billion for the financial year ending March 2026 an 8% rise from the previous year as growth in Africa and the completion of its UK merger gave the group a significant lift.
