Dallas-based cybersecurity company Trend Micro has taken a significant step to reposition itself for the AI era. On March 23, 2026, the company announced that its enterprise cybersecurity business will now operate under the new name TrendAI™.

The rebrand goes beyond a simple name change. It reflects Trend Micro’s strategic shift from offering traditional security products to building an AI-native security platform designed for enterprises that are rapidly adopting generative AI, autonomous agents, and AI-powered workflows.

As organizations embed AI deeper into their operations, new risks are emerging, from prompt injection and model poisoning to data leakage in agentic systems. Traditional security tools built for static environments are struggling to keep pace. TrendAI™ aims to address this by evolving the company’s Vision One platform into a unified, intelligent security layer that understands and protects AI systems themselves.

The name change applies specifically to the enterprise business unit. Consumer and small-business products will continue to operate under the original Trend Micro brand. The full rollout of the new branding, including updated product naming and marketing, will happen gradually throughout 2026.

The timing is strategic. With enterprises pouring billions into AI initiatives, cybersecurity vendors are racing to prove they can secure the next generation of intelligent systems. By rebranding as TrendAI™, Trend Micro is signaling that it wants to move from being a generalist security provider to a specialist in AI-driven defense.

For customers, this means expecting tighter integration of AI across threat detection, automated response, risk scoring, and policy enforcement, especially in hybrid cloud and multi-agent environments. The goal is to make security a proactive enabler of AI adoption rather than a bottleneck.

While many vendors have sprinkled “AI” into their messaging, few have gone as far as restructuring their entire enterprise identity around it. Trend Micro’s long history in endpoint, email, and cloud security gives it a solid foundation, but it will now face increased competition from both legacy giants and nimble AI-native security startups. In essence, the rebrand is a clear declaration: in the age of AI, security must be intelligent by design, not an afterthought.
