The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has appointed Princess Emiko as the Interim Chairperson of the Board of the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI).

The appointment was announced recently as part of efforts to strengthen leadership and governance at the institute, which serves as a key centre for capacity building in telecommunications, digital technology, and ICT skills development in Nigeria.

Princess Emiko brings a wealth of experience in public service, administration, and strategic leadership. Her appointment is expected to provide stable guidance to the Digital Bridge Institute during this transitional period while the search for a substantive board leadership continues.

The Digital Bridge Institute is a prominent training and research institution established by the NCC to bridge the digital skills gap in Nigeria. It offers specialised programmes in areas such as cybersecurity, broadband technology, data analytics, regulatory frameworks, and emerging digital technologies. The institute plays a vital role in supporting the Commission’s mandate of fostering a digitally literate workforce and advancing Nigeria’s digital economy agenda.

This leadership appointment comes at a time when Nigeria is intensifying efforts to expand digital infrastructure, improve broadband penetration, and build local capacity in critical technology areas. The Digital Bridge Institute continues to serve as a strategic partner in achieving these national objectives through training, certification, and collaboration with both public and private sector stakeholders.

Princess Emiko’s interim role is expected to ensure continuity of operations and strategic direction at the institute. Stakeholders have welcomed the appointment, describing it as a positive step toward maintaining momentum in digital capacity development.

The Nigerian Communications Commission expressed confidence in Princess Emiko’s ability to provide effective leadership during this period. Further details regarding the duration of her interim tenure and the process for appointing a substantive chairperson are expected to be communicated in due course.

This development reinforces the NCC’s commitment to strong governance and institutional excellence as Nigeria continues its digital transformation journey.
