OMPAY has introduced JEEL, a new digital wallet specifically designed for children and teenagers, aiming to promote financial literacy and safe digital money management across the Middle East and Africa.

The product launch, announced on June 3, 2026, allows parents to create supervised accounts for their children aged 8 to 17. JEEL combines the convenience of a digital wallet with built-in parental controls, educational tools, and spending restrictions to help young users learn responsible money habits in a secure environment.

Key Features of JEEL

  • Parental Oversight: Parents can set spending limits, approve transactions, and monitor activity in real time through the main OMPAY app.
  • Financial Education: The wallet includes interactive learning modules on budgeting, saving, and smart spending tailored to different age groups.
  • Safe Spending: JEEL supports payments at selected merchants while blocking access to age-inappropriate or high-risk categories.
  • Allowance Management: Parents can schedule recurring allowances and set savings goals for their children.
  • Multi-Currency Support: The wallet works across several currencies popular in the regions where OMPAY operates.

OMPAY developed JEEL in response to the increasing use of digital payments by young people and the lack of safe, educational financial tools for this demographic. With more children receiving smartphones at younger ages and participating in the digital economy, the company identified a clear gap in supervised financial products.

The wallet is currently available in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Nigeria, with plans to expand to additional markets in the GCC and Africa in the coming months.

This launch strengthens OMPAY’s position as a leading fintech platform in the region by expanding beyond traditional payments into family-focused financial solutions. It also aligns with broader efforts by governments and regulators to improve financial inclusion and literacy among younger generations.

OMPAY stated that JEEL was built with strict compliance to data protection and child privacy regulations, ensuring high standards of security for young users.

Early feedback from pilot users has been positive, with parents appreciating the balance between giving children independence and maintaining necessary supervision.

As digital payments continue to replace cash across Africa and the Middle East, products like JEEL are expected to play an important role in shaping responsible financial behaviour from an early age. OMPAY plans to add more features, including investment education and charitable giving tools, in future updates.
