These offerings target hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise data centres deploying large-scale AI training and inference workloads.

AI servers equipped with high-performance accelerators can generate heat loads exceeding 100–200 kW per rack, far surpassing the capabilities of conventional air-based systems. Vertiv’s new liquid cooling platforms are engineered to handle these extreme densities efficiently while maintaining energy efficiency and operational reliability.

The company highlighted features such as higher flow rates, improved redundancy, and flexible configurations that allow operators to deploy liquid cooling gradually alongside existing air-cooled infrastructure. This hybrid approach helps data centre owners manage the transition without full-scale rip-and-replace projects.

“Liquid cooling is no longer a niche technology it is becoming essential infrastructure for any facility running dense AI compute,” said a Vertiv executive during the launch. The solutions are built to integrate seamlessly with Vertiv’s broader thermal management and power systems, offering end-to-end support for high-density environments.

The timing of the launch aligns with explosive growth in AI investment. Major cloud providers and technology companies are racing to build GPU clusters, driving urgent demand for cooling technologies that can support 50–120 kW+ per rack. Industry analysts project that liquid cooling will account for a significant portion of new data centre deployments by 2028 as air cooling reaches its practical limits.

Vertiv, already a major supplier of data centre power and cooling systems, is positioning itself as a key enabler of the AI buildout. The company has been expanding its liquid cooling capabilities through both internal development and strategic acquisitions in recent years to strengthen its portfolio.

For operators, the shift to liquid cooling promises not only better thermal performance but also potential gains in energy efficiency and space utilisation critical factors as power availability and sustainability targets become increasingly constraining.

As global data centre capacity expands to meet AI demand, solutions like Vertiv’s new liquid cooling platforms will play a central role in determining which facilities can support the most advanced workloads efficiently and sustainably. The coming years will likely see accelerated adoption as more operators move beyond pilot deployments into full-scale implementation.

Vertiv has introduced a new portfolio of liquid cooling technologies designed to address the intense thermal demands of modern AI infrastructure, as data centre operators grapple with rapidly rising power densities driven by GPU clusters.
