The hub will analyse search trends, traveller sentiment, and market data to provide instant insights for policymakers and tourism operators.

Additional elements of the partnership include a Gemini-powered AI trip planner that generates personalised itineraries for visitors, precision digital marketing campaigns using Google Analytics and Google Ads, and digital skills training programmes for youth and tourism SMEs.

Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano described the initiative as a key step in repositioning Kenya as Africa’s leading AI-first tourism destination. The partnership follows recommendations from the Kenya Tourism Rebranding and Repositioning Taskforce and is expected to help increase visitor arrivals and revenue.

The project will leverage machine learning and Google’s advanced technologies to better understand shifting traveller preferences and target high-value international markets more effectively. By moving from traditional marketing approaches to real-time, data-driven strategies, Kenya aims to improve competitiveness against other global destinations.

The initiative also includes capacity-building components to equip local tourism businesses and young people with relevant digital skills, supporting broader economic benefits from the sector.

Tourism remains one of Kenya’s most important foreign exchange earners, and the government sees AI as a transformative tool to recover stronger from recent challenges while preparing for future growth. The partnership reflects Google’s continued investment in Africa’s digital infrastructure and economic development.

As implementation begins, both parties will focus on rolling out the data hub and personalised planning tools while expanding training programmes. Success will be measured by improvements in visitor numbers, length of stay, and overall contribution of tourism to the Kenyan economy in the coming years.

Kenya has entered a strategic partnership with Google to deploy artificial intelligence across its tourism sector, aiming to modernise destination marketing, enhance visitor experiences, and strengthen data-driven decision making.
