    Early life and education<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Awori was born in Nairobi to a Kenyan engineer father and a British lawyer mother. He attended St. Mary\u2019s School in Nairobi before studying pharmacy at the University of Manchester<\/strong>, graduating in 1991. Transitioning from healthcare to finance, he later earned an MBA from McGill University<\/strong>, specializing in finance and international business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Banking career<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Awori began his career as a pharmacist in the United Kingdom before joining Standard Chartered Bank<\/strong> Kenya at age 28 as Head of Retail Banking. His leadership took him through senior roles in the UAE, Tanzania, and Kenya, culminating as CEO of Standard Chartered Tanzania (2008). He later became CEO of Barclays Bank Kenya<\/strong>, guiding its rebrand to Absa Bank Kenya<\/strong> in 2020, and retired from Absa in October 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    As Group CEO of Ecobank since March 2023, Awori has focused on digital transformation, sustainability, and regional financial integration.
