stc pay Bahrain, a leading mobile wallet provider, has partnered with Payment International Enterprise (PIE) to enable QR code payments on PIE’s point-of-sale (POS) network across the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The integration allows stc pay users to complete transactions by scanning a QR code generated on PIE POS devices via the stc pay app. Payments are processed instantly and securely, reducing reliance on cash or physical cards.

The collaboration expands payment options for consumers and provides merchants with access to stc pay’s user base. It supports Bahrain’s broader push toward a cashless economy and digital transformation in financial services.

Metin Zavrak, CEO of stc pay, highlighted the partnership’s role in enhancing convenience and supporting the Kingdom’s digital agenda. “This collaboration directly supports the Kingdom’s vision for digital transformation in financial services,” he said.

Shabbir Modi, Managing Director of PIE, noted the move advances Bahrain’s payments ecosystem by offering seamless checkout experiences for businesses. PIE, licensed by the Central Bank of Bahrain, operates an expanding merchant network.

stc pay’s super app already offers a range of digital financial services. The new QR functionality is expected to increase transaction volumes and improve efficiency in retail, hospitality, and service sectors.

The launch reflects ongoing efforts by Bahraini fintechs and payment providers to modernise infrastructure and meet evolving consumer preferences for fast, contactless payments. No specific timelines for full merchant rollout were detailed.

Bahrain continues to position itself as a regional leader in fintech innovation, with initiatives aimed at boosting financial inclusion and digital adoption.
