Chad and the United States have begun high-level discussions on potential partnerships to enhance satellite connectivity and strengthen cybersecurity capabilities across the Central African nation.

The talks, involving senior officials from both countries, focus on leveraging US expertise and technology to expand internet access in remote areas and bolster defences against cyber threats. US Ambassador to Chad, Mr. Alexander Laskaris, described the engagement as part of broader cooperation to support Chad’s digital transformation and national security.

“Reliable connectivity and robust cybersecurity are essential for economic growth, governance, and regional stability,” Laskaris said. Chadian officials welcomed the initiative, noting its alignment with national priorities for infrastructure development and digital economy growth.

The partnership is expected to include training programmes, technology transfer, and potential investment in satellite infrastructure. Both sides expressed optimism that the collaboration would yield tangible benefits for Chadian citizens and institutions.

The development reflects increasing US interest in supporting digital infrastructure and security in strategic African nations.
